Bio:
Tina Shrader is the founder and owner of Empower Family Therapy, the ‘Go To’ resource for couple & family issues in Oak Park’s family-focused community. Tina’s clinical specialties include working with conflictual couples, bickering families, hard to reach teens/young adults, and parents in need of a strategy adjustment. Over her career she has refined her Communication Skills Toolbox, which helps her clients find more success in self-expression and connection with the most important people in their lives. She believes it’s an honor to be invited into the lives of her diverse clients and to see the large changes that can come from helping couples learn new ways to communicate and connect.
As a business owner, Tina is dedicated to Empower Family Therapy being a teaching practice that creates an environment for clinicians (at all stages in their therapy careers) to learn good habits and (sometimes unlearn old habits) create a foundation for a sustainable career in the challenging field of mental health work. Tina is a South Florida native, and an Oak Park resident. She is currently expanding her business to Florida, so she can one day become a "snow bird" and escape the long Chicago winters. Most therapists avoid working in the communities they live in, but Tina is honored to give back to the families she proudly shares this amazing village with. Tina is a wife, a stepmom to two teenage daughters, and a mom to two young kids. You can often find her in the group fitness classes at FFC, checking out the new items at Trader Joe’s, or enjoying the local dining scene. She loves being part of the chamber because of the relationships she’s build & it supplies her experience of solo business ownership with a much needed dose of support, community, and fun!
