Village of Oak Park’s Madison Street Improvements Project
UPDATE: August 2, 2019: Village reminder to sign-up for automatic updates on the project, more info here.
UPDATE: March 30, 2019: Letter from Hancock Engineering to residents and businesses in the area can be accessed here.
The Village is investing in Madison Street. Madison Street, between Harlem Avenue and Austin Boulevard, will be resurfaced with new, smooth pavement and converted to three lanes. Pedestrian crossings will be shorter and safer with the installation of new accessible ramps, marked crosswalks, bump-outs, pedestrian refuges and enhanced signals. New parking spaces and bicycle lanes will be marked on the pavement and Pace bus stops will be posted. Madison Street will remain open during construction and the Village will work to ensure that safe, passable walking routes are maintained.
The Village of Oak Park’s Madison Street improvements will begin on April 15. There are multiple ways to stay connected to the most current project information and construction schedule:
- Sign up for regular project updates
- Check the website for regular project updates
- Contact Chris Baker at 708.405.9606 or cbaker@ehancock.com with any questions or concerns
- Request print brochures for your clients, customers or employees through the madisonstreet construction site “Contact Us” form
- Encourage your clients, customers and employees to follow the project at madisonstreetconstruction.com
The Village has hired Hancock Engineering to oversee the Madison Street improvement project. John Gutsch, from Hancock Engineering, will visit each business within the Madison Street project area in the coming weeks to learn about specific delivery, access or parking needs for businesses. He can be reached at jgutsch@ehancock.com. A project office on Madison Street (at 268 Madison) will be open during construction and drop-in hours and will be available for anyone seeking information about the project. The project office hours will be posted on the website and shared in regular emailed updates. Parking changes will also be posted on the website.
Business District Brand Identity/Characteristics
In 2017, The OPRF Chamber of Commerce completed our Business Districts Project to identify the brand identity for each district, and create a distinct storyline to be used to communicate in one voice, to businesses within the district, outside the district, the community and for recruitment.
